Killarney Credit Union made a presentation to their art competition winners at an awards night on Friday 20th in Beech Road. . The credit union art competition which has been in existence for the past 32 years through 300 credit union nationally and caters for ages from under 7 to over 18 as well as a special category for those with physical or intellectual disabilities.
Speaking at the event, Pat Delaney Chairman, Killarney Credit Union stated “ We would like to acknowledge the creativity of all those that have submitted work for the competition, indeed we received nearly 500 entries in all. The theme of this year’s competition was Happiness is and it gave great scope for interpretation by artists. The judging for this year’s competition was by Frank Lewis, local artist, who has a keen eye for artistic merit so well done to all our winners” he concluded.
There are 21 national schools in the Killarney Credit Union common bond and 4 secondary schools. The winners represented on the night came from the following schools: Loughguittane, St John Kenmare, Lissivigeen, St Olivers, Firies, Killarney Community College, Kerry Parents and Friends.
The 1st prize winners of each category will attend the presentation and award night of Chapter Level on Saturday 28th November in the Castlemaine Suite, Manor West Hotel.
